Bulk operations with Excel

Use Excel side panels to manage products, filters, specifications, redirects and site-wide metadata in bulk, and export registered users.

01 / Guide

Excel operations in the right-hand panel

In Twicart, Excel settings and operations are managed through the Excel side panels on the right of the relevant screen. Open the page for your task and use its Excel panel. The product filters page also has its Excel panel on the right.

Creating products, updating products, matching products to filters, updating specifications and exporting registered users serve different needs. Use the overview below to choose the right workflow.

Create new products with Excel

  • Product content such as title, page address, short and long descriptions, meta title and meta description.
  • Selling, purchase and discounted prices; main image, video, tags and badge.
  • Tax rule, shipping rule, brand, related products and pre-order details.
  • Additional fields such as minimum order, custom field and position.

Rows without a title are not processed. If the page address is empty, it is generated from the title. Tax and shipping rules must match existing records; a supplied brand must also already exist.

Information to complete after creation

New products start with zero stock and empty SKU/EAN values. Category assignment and gallery images are not part of this creation flow; complete them in product settings or through the appropriate update flow.

04 / Guide

Match an existing product by ID or SKU

Updates match products by product ID or SKU. Use the existing product’s identifier for ID matching. For SKU matching, the code must identify a single product. Rows are skipped when no product is found or the SKU matches multiple products.

Scope of bulk updates

Field groupInformation you can update
Content and SEOTitle, address, descriptions, meta title and meta description.
Sales informationPrices, status, visibility, pre-order and minimum order.
Physical detailsWeight, depth, width, height and product colour.
MediaMain image, gallery, video and product document.
RelationshipsCategories, brand, tax and shipping rules, related products and tags.
Inventory and extra fieldsSKU, EAN, quantity, barcode and custom field.
Treat variation stock separately

This update flow applies SKU, EAN and quantity to the product’s first inventory record. It should not be used as a variation import that updates stock and price for each combination separately.

What to know when preparing a file

  • Columns absent from the file leave existing values unchanged. A blank cell in a present column may clear the value or apply a default, depending on the field.
  • Category updates replace existing category links. Categories must already exist; the last category in the list becomes the primary category.
  • Gallery updates replace existing gallery images. Image counts are subject to plan limits.
  • Brand, tax and shipping rules must match existing records by ID or name.

Product filters: add, remove and update in one Excel file

Use the Excel panel on the right of the product filters page to bring products and filter IDs together in the same Excel file. This manages product-to-filter assignments in bulk. Assigned filters are used for filtering in the category-page sidebar.

Adding a filter assignment, removing an existing assignment and updating a match all use the same Excel file. Removal here concerns the relationship between a product and a filter. Unlike product creation and updating, this does not use separate Create and Update workflows.

Example: match a product to a filter ID

To include a product in the “Blue” filter, match that product to the relevant filter ID. You can later change or remove the assignment in the same Excel workflow. Use the Excel layout provided by the product filters panel.

A separate Update Excel file for product specifications

The specifications table displayed on the product page has its own update Excel file. Use Features Update to update these product specifications in bulk. Access the operation through the Excel panel on the right of the relevant screen.

This workflow is separate from general product updates and product-to-filter matching. Use Features Update for the product-page specifications table and product filters Excel for category-sidebar filter assignments. Core attributes used in feeds, such as colour and dimensions, belong to the general product fields.

Export registered users with Excel

Export users registered on your website to an Excel file. Use the export operation in the right-hand Excel panel of the relevant screen in the Users area to obtain your registered-user list.

This operation exports the users registered on your site. It is a separate Excel operation from product creation, product updates, filter assignments and specification updates.

Position support in Excel

The creation flow can import a position value. Position is not yet supported when updating existing products through Excel; support is planned. For now, change an existing product’s ordering in product settings.

Redirect and 410 management with Excel

Configure URL redirects in bulk through Excel. Use the right-hand Excel panel on the relevant screen to manage source URLs, destinations and supported methods. Prepare many link changes without opening each setting individually.

A 301 permanently redirects an address to a new one. A 410 reports permanently removed content and does not redirect to a destination. Choose the appropriate supported method and follow the file layout in the relevant Excel panel.

All meta titles and descriptions through Excel

All meta titles and meta descriptions across the site can be edited in bulk with Excel. This extends beyond products to categories and other site pages. Use bulk SEO editing in the relevant screen’s right-hand Excel panel.

The general product Update Excel flow updates product information; site-wide metadata editing handles SEO text in bulk. Use the file layout for the relevant workflow and prepare distinctive, descriptive titles and descriptions for each page.
